GERARD R. LUCKMAN

Mr. Luckman leads the Firm’s Corporate Restructuring and Insolvency Practice. Mr. Luckman is regarded as a leading practitioner in representing financially troubled companies in or out of chapter 11 bankruptcy. He provides business counsel to the Firms’ clients in the areas of financial restructuring, workout of obligations to, or debt forbearance agreements with, secured creditors and negotiating with trade creditors. He also represents clients in distressed debt transactions, asset acquisitions and sales. In Chapter 11 cases, Mr. Luckman has represented debtors, creditors’ committees, equity holders, landlords and secured and unsecured creditors.

Mr. Luckman received his Juris Doctor from St. John’s University School of Law in 1993 and his Bachelor of Science (Magna Cum Laude) from New York Institute of Technology in 1981. Prior to and during law school, Mr. Luckman was employed as a financial manager for two major corporations. During law school, he served as Editor-in-Chief of the inaugural issue of the American Bankruptcy Institute Law Review which was republished as Single Asset Real Estate Bankruptcies Current Developments and Legislative Issues by the Section of Real Property, Probate and Trust Law of the American Bar Association. Mr. Luckman is admitted to practice before the State Courts of New York and the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York. He is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute and the Bar Association of Nassau County. He has widely lectured on bankruptcy issues; primarily in representing businesses in chapter 11. He is active in local educational and athletic organizations and serves on the Board of Directors of the St. John’s University School of Law Alumni Association.
